Man Kung MK-NCB75BK Fossil Compound Bow for Adults, Aluminium Riser, Black

Detailed Overview and Usage

The Man Kung MK-NCB75BK Fossil is a premium tool for the modern archer. It is a right-handed model – meaning you hold the bow firmly in your left hand and draw the string with your right hand using the included release aid. The sophisticated cam system ensures a significant reduction in the holding weight at full draw (known as let-off) by 75 to 80 %. This provides you with the peace and time needed for precise aiming without unnecessary muscle fatigue.

Thanks to the adjustable modules directly on the cams (as seen in the detailed photos, the modules feature clear numerical markings), you can also seamlessly adjust the draw length from 25 to 31 inches (63.5 - 78.7 cm). The bow thus perfectly adapts to archers with a body height between approximately 160 and 200 cm. The bow comes complete with a whisker biscuit arrow rest, which securely holds the arrow in place under any conditions, and a pin sight with three fluorescent fibres for easy aiming even in low-light environments.

History and Purpose of Compound Bows

While traditional bows have accompanied humanity for thousands of years, the compound bow was only invented in the USA in 1966 by Holles Wilbur Allen. The goal was to create a weapon that eliminates the immense physical strain on the archer at full draw while transferring maximum kinetic energy to the arrow. The pulley system works on the principle of leverage – initially, the draw is heavy, but just before the end of the draw cycle, it "lets off". With this model, it means that at a set draw weight of 70 lbs, you are realistically only holding around 14 lbs at full draw. This gives you a massive tactical advantage when taking aim.

How to Care for Your Bow

For your bow to serve you reliably for many years, it requires regular maintenance. The string and cables must be regularly lubricated with special string wax to prevent fraying and drying out. Store the bow in a dry place at room temperature and protect it from extreme heat (never leave it locked in a car under direct sunlight during summer, as this could damage the limbs).

Important Warning: Never, ever shoot the bow without an arrow nocked (known as dry firing)! All the stored energy that would otherwise be transferred to the arrow will destructively dissipate into the limbs and cams, which can lead to immediate and fatal destruction of the bow and serious injury.

Recommended Accessories

Although the bow comes in a generous set with two 30-inch (76.2 cm) aluminium arrows, this will not be enough for a proper training session. I highly recommend acquiring a set of quality carbon arrows, which can better withstand the massive power of this bow. To safely stop the arrows, you will definitely need a durable target butt designed specifically for compound bows and crossbows. Don't forget an arrow puller, which will save you a lot of effort when extracting arrows from the target, and a high-quality transport bag to keep your new equipment safe on the go.
