Genuine Leather and Authentic Craftsmanship
The hat is crafted from high-quality genuine leather with a thickness of 1.5 – 1.8 mm. This material ensures durability while remaining flexible enough for comfortable wear. A genuine leather band with lacing circles the crown, adding to the authentic look. The brim can be shaped to your liking thanks to the wire reinforcement—cock it up for that classic musketeer swagger or keep it flat for maximum shade. The side features a decorative metal rosette.
Historical Context
In the 17th century, during the Thirty Years' War and the Golden Age of Piracy, wide-brimmed hats were a symbol of status and elegance. The French King's Musketeers, as well as soldiers in Flanders (hence the name), wore similar hats, often adorned with feathers. The wide brim protected against the elements but also served to shield the gunpowder in muskets from rain.

Leather Care Instructions
Leather is a natural material that requires some care to last for years:
- Cleaning: Remove dirt with a soft dry cloth. For tougher stains, use a slightly damp cloth and let it dry naturally (never near a radiator!).
- Conditioning: Treat the leather occasionally with leather balm or beeswax to keep it flexible and water-resistant.
- Storage: Do not crush the hat. Store it in a place with enough space, ideally on a hat stand or stuffed with paper to maintain its shape.
