Detailed Description and Construction
This complete set of plate arms is crafted from 1.6 mm (16-gauge) steel. Each arm is composed of three main, perfectly articulated parts:
- Rerebrace (Upper Cannon): The upper section, covering the bicep and tricep.
- Couter (Elbow Cop): The central, anatomically shaped piece protecting the elbow joint, complete with a large, heart-shaped wing that provides excellent protection to the inside of the elbow from cuts and thrusts.
- Vambrace (Lower Cannon): The lower, two-part section that fully encloses and protects the forearm.
The individual components are connected by sturdy rivets and internal leather straps, ensuring fluid and safe movement. The interior of the armour is blackened for corrosion resistance.
Attachment and Fit
The arms are attached to the rest of your armour using the leather tabs at the top, through which "arming points" (laces) are threaded and tied to a gambeson or arming doublet. They are then secured to the arm itself with three robust leather straps with steel buckles, allowing for a perfect fit and firm attachment.
