Mounted Templar Knight Statue – Charge in the Name of the Cross

Knight at Full Gallop

The statuette is made of high-quality polyresin, which allows for the modelling of even the finest details, such as individual chainmail rings or the muscles on the horse's neck. The entire sculpture is hand-painted. The knight is clad in chainmail and a white surcoat with a red cross pattée. On his head, he wears a Great Helm (bucket helm) with cross-shaped eye slits, typical of the 13th century. In his right hand, he wields a drawn sword ready to strike, while in his left hand he holds the reins and a shield decorated with the order's emblem.

The horse is also protected – draped over its back is a white caparison with red crosses, matching the rider. The base of the statuette is modelled as rocky terrain with a hint of vegetation, ensuring the stability of the figurine even in this dynamic pose where the horse stands only on its hind legs.

Historical Insight: The Shock Force of the Middle Ages

The Templars were not only guardians of pilgrims but primarily elite heavy cavalry. On the battlefield, they functioned like "medieval tanks". The charge of a tight formation of knights on heavy warhorses (destriers) was intended to break enemy lines with brute force. The red cross on a white background symbolized purity of intent and the willingness to shed blood for the faith. White clothing was the privilege of full knights of the order, while sergeants and squires wore black or brown.

How to Care for Your Cavalry

Although this knight looks indestructible, the material of the statuette requires gentle handling:

  • Fragility: Polyresin is strong once hardened, but brittle. The most risky parts are the sword and the horse's legs. A fall onto a hard floor would irreparably damage the statuette. Place it in a safe and stable spot.
  • Cleaning: Remove dust only with a soft brush or a dry duster. Do not use water or chemical cleaners to avoid damaging the hand-painting and metal patina.
  • Sun: Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can cause colours to fade, so the statuette is intended exclusively for indoor use.

A replica of a Templar dagger or a stylish chalice might also go well with this statuette to complete the atmosphere of your knightly corner.
