Miniature Excalibur Sword, Letter Opener from Toledo
The Legendary Sword of King Arthur on Your Desk
This sword is a scaled-down yet intricately detailed version of the famous weapon. Every part of it attests to careful craftsmanship.
- The Blade: It is crafted from high-quality 440 stainless steel, professionally hardened and tempered to a hardness of 47-51 HRC. This ensures its durability and a long-lasting sharp point. The upper part is adorned with fine, detailed etching featuring geometric and circular motifs.
- The Hilt: The heart of the sword is its perfectly crafted hilt. The guard and pommel are metal, in a polished gold color, and are inlaid with dark enamel featuring intertwined Celtic patterns. The dark brown grip is ergonomically shaped and fits perfectly in hand. The disc-shaped pommel is finished with an emblem of lions, a symbol of royal power.
Open Your Mail Like a King
Forget ordinary letter knives. With this Excalibur, opening your mail will be an experience. It is not only a practical tool for your desk but also an exclusive conversation piece and a collector's item. It is perfectly suited for display on one of our stands for miniatures, where it will become the pride of your collection.
The Tale of Excalibur, the Sword from the Lake
Make no mistake, this is not the Sword in the Stone! According to Arthurian legends, Excalibur was King Arthur's second, even more powerful sword. After the sword pulled from the stone broke in battle, Merlin led Arthur to a lake, from whose surface an arm emerged holding this magnificent sword. It was given to him by the Lady of the Lake. The scabbard of Excalibur was said to have magical powers – its wearer would lose almost no blood in battle.
Typological Classification
With its straight guard and disc pommel, this replica most closely resembles the classic knightly swords of the High Middle Ages. According to the renowned Oakeshott typology, it could be classified as Type XII, characteristic of the period from the 12th to the 14th centuries, the era in which Arthurian romances are most often set.
Care and Safe Use
The stainless steel blade is low-maintenance; just keep it dry and clean. Occasionally polish the metal parts of the hilt with a soft cloth to maintain their shine.
Important Notice: Although the sword has a sharp point for easily opening letters, this is a decorative replica and a letter opener, not a weapon. It is not designed for combat, cutting, stabbing, or any practical activities other than opening mail. Handle with care and keep out of reach of children.
