Tactical Folding Karambit Knife – Aluminium Handle and Bead-Blasted Blade
Modern Claw with a Tactical Soul
The blade of this karambit is made of high-quality stainless steel (type 440C/N690Co), known for its ability to hold a wicked edge for a long time while resisting corrosion. The blade surface is bead-blasted, giving it a matte, non-reflective grey appearance, ideal for tactical use where glare is undesirable. The Hawkbill blade shape functions like a tearing claw – the material does not slip away during the cut but is pulled into the edge. You will appreciate this not only in self-defence but also when cutting ropes, straps, or opening boxes.
One of the main advantages of this model is the patented opening system (the so-called Wave hook on the spine of the blade). This allows the knife to open automatically as it is drawn from the pocket – the edge of the hook catches on the hem of your trousers, and the blade snaps into the ready position instantly. Its speed rivals that of switchblades. The handle is made of light metal (aircraft aluminium) with an anodized finish, ensuring strength with minimal weight. Naturally, it features a steel pocket clip that can be mounted on either the left or right side.

History and Usage
The karambit originates from the Indonesian and Malaysian archipelagos. Originally, it was an agricultural tool inspired by the claws of large cats, used for cutting roots or harvesting rice. Over time, however, it was integrated into martial arts such as Pencak Silat, where it became a feared weapon for close-quarters combat. The characteristic ring at the end of the handle serves for inserting the index finger (in a reverse grip) or the little finger, ensuring an absolutely secure grip – the knife won't fall out even with an open palm, in water, or during a strong impact.
Safety and Maintenance
Warning: The karambit is a specific tool that requires training. If you have no experience with it, be especially careful when handling and spinning the knife on your finger – the tip points towards your forearm and can cause serious injury. Keep the Linerlock mechanism and the blade pivot clean. Occasionally blow out pocket lint and apply a drop of oil to the mechanism. Sharpening the curved edge requires an oval or round sharpening stone; using a flat stone would ruin the blade profile.
I recommend that you also acquire a training version (blunt) of this knife if you wish to learn drawing and handling techniques, to avoid unnecessary injuries.
