Tactical Folding Karambit Knife Extreme Ops – G10 Handle and 7Cr17 Steel

Inspired by the Tiger's Claw

The history of the karambit knife goes deep into the past of the Indonesian and Malaysian archipelagos. Originally an agricultural tool inspired by the claws of large cats, it evolved over time into a fearsome weapon in martial arts such as Pencak Silat. The main feature is the safety ring at the end of the handle. This is used to insert the index finger (in a reverse grip) or the little finger (in a standard grip). Thanks to this, the knife will not fall out even with an open palm, in water, or during a strong impact.

The blade of this model is made of 7Cr17 stainless steel (which is a quality equivalent to 440A steel with added vanadium for higher toughness). Its Hawkbill shape ensures that the material being cut is pulled into the edge during the stroke, rather than being pushed out. This makes it a master of pull cuts. You can open the knife easily with one hand using the ambidextrous thumb stud on the blade, and in the open position, it is secured by a reliable Linerlock mechanism.

The handle consists of a steel frame onto which G10 scales are screwed. This high-pressure laminate is extremely durable, lightweight, and does not slip thanks to its textured surface. On the back, there is a steel clip for carrying on a belt or in a pocket.

Usage and Maintenance Specifics

The karambit is a specific tool. Although it is great for opening parcels and cutting ropes, its shape requires a different approach when sharpening. Do not use flat sharpening stones, as you would ruin the curvature of the edge. For maintaining the "curved" edge, it is necessary to use oval or round sharpening rods (ceramic or diamond).

Keep the lock and pivot mechanism clean. Occasional lubrication with a drop of oil ensures smooth opening action. If you are not trained in martial arts that work with the karambit, be extremely careful when handling it (especially when spinning the knife on your finger) – the tip is very sharp and points inwards towards your forearm.
