Narrow Medieval Leather Belt Lenhart with Bronze Buckle, 15th Century
Historical Context and Proper Wear
The late 15th century, the period of the Late Gothic and early Renaissance, was characterised by elegance and slim lines. Narrow belts were the absolute standard for both men and women. Gentlemen used them to cinch their doublets and tunics, often suspending a coin pouch, an eating knife, or a dagger from them. Ladies wore them over their long dresses. The fastening method is very authentic: you thread the belt through the bronze buckle in the classic way, secure it with the prong, and loop the remaining long end underneath the fastened belt, creating the striking medieval knot. The free end of the belt is then left to hang casually down the leg, visually elongating the figure, exactly as seen in period paintings.
To ensure the belt fits you perfectly, we will punch five custom holes into it. Simply write your exact waist circumference in the order notes. We will position the holes so that two are before and two are after your specified measurement, giving you leeway in case you wear multiple layers of clothing.

Leather Care and Important Warnings
Leather is a natural material that needs occasional care so it does not lose its flexibility and strength. We recommend regularly greasing the belt with a high-quality leather balm, ideally containing beeswax. If you get caught in heavy rain on a historical march, let the belt dry slowly at room temperature. Under no circumstances should you dry it on a radiator, near an open flame, or in direct sunlight – the leather would shrink, harden, and irreversibly crack. Also, remember that slight variations in colour and surface texture compared to the photographs are natural characteristics of genuine leather, making every belt an unmistakable original.
Recommended Accessories
To go with this elegant belt, we highly recommend acquiring a leather pouch and a replica of a medieval rondel dagger, which you can easily suspend from the belt. This will give you a complete and historically accurate appearance for your character.
