Narrow Gothic Leather Belt Ulle with Bronze Buckle, 14th-15th Century
Historical Context and Proper Knotting
Between 1350 and 1450, narrow and long belts were the absolute standard across all social classes. They were worn over under-tunics, fitted doublets, and outer garments. A typical feature of Gothic fashion was to let the long end of the belt hang freely downwards, which optically elongated the figure. Fastening is very simple and period-accurate: you thread the end of the belt through the bronze buckle, secure it with the prong, and then form the so-called medieval knot. You loop the free end underneath the fastened belt from the bottom upwards and let it drape down over the belt. This further secures the connection and gives the belt that essential historical look.
If you provide us with your exact waist circumference in the order notes, we will custom punch five holes into the leather for you – two before and two after your specified measurement. This ensures the belt will fit you absolutely perfectly, even when you change layers of clothing.

Leather Belt Care and Warnings
To ensure the thick ox leather retains its flexibility and longevity, proper care is essential. We recommend regularly treating the belt with a high-quality beeswax-based leather balm. If you get caught in the rain on a historical campaign and the belt gets soaked, let it dry slowly at normal room temperature. Absolutely avoid drying it on a radiator, near an open flame, or in harsh direct sunlight. The leather would irreversibly harden, shrink, and crack. Also, remember that the product is crafted from a purely natural material. Slight variations in the colour and texture of the leather compared to the photographs are natural characteristics, making every single manufactured belt an unmistakable original.
Recommended Accessories
To accompany this authentic Gothic belt, we highly recommend acquiring a hand-sewn leather pouch and a replica of a medieval dagger with a scabbard. You can easily suspend these from the belt, taking your historical costume to absolute perfection.
