Historical Context and Proper Usage

Belt pouches in this so-called kidney shape formed the absolute foundation of civil and military dress in the High and Late Middle Ages. Since garments of the era lacked pockets as we know them today, townsfolk, merchants, and roaming mercenaries carried their valuables in precisely these kinds of bags suspended from their belts. The pouch is worn on the hip or slightly toward the front, with your belt simply threaded through the two wide leather loops. Fastening is secured by a reliable strap featuring a replica of a historical brass buckle. The specific manufacturing process, which involves infusing hot wax into the leather, guarantees a pull-up effect. The leather naturally lightens in the creases and easily picks up minor surface scratches, instantly creating a highly desirable and historically accurate distressed look.

Leather Pouch Care and Safety Guidelines

Although the leather is factory-treated with wax, we highly recommend occasionally applying a quality beeswax-based leather conditioner to maintain its natural suppleness and water resistance. If you get caught in the rain on the battlefield, allow the pouch to dry slowly at room temperature. Never dry it near a direct heat source, such as an open fire or a radiator, as this will irreversibly harden and crack the leather. From a practical and safety standpoint, keep in mind that the pouch is made from leather up to 2 mm (0.08 inches) thick. It is expressly designed for carrying lighter personal items. Absolutely avoid overloading it with heavy objects (such as lead musket balls or massive pieces of iron), as the excessive weight could tear the suspension loops.

To perfectly complement this pouch, we strongly recommend acquiring a period-correct leather belt with a brass buckle and a medieval dagger to create a complete and highly functional setup for your character.
