Celtic Short Sword "Boii" with Leaf Blade

Design Inspired by La Tène Culture

The sword is based on the design of weapons used in the La Tène period. Its most distinctive feature is the broad leaf-shaped blade. Historically, this shape served to increase the impact of a cut. The handle is black, segmented by distinct brass rings, which not only look great but also help provide a firmer grip. The crescent-shaped guard is riveted and forms a smooth transition between the blade and the hilt. The entire sword is finished with a massive brass pommel. Included is a practical black leather scabbard with a loop for suspension.

Usage and Construction

It is important to know that this sword is constructed primarily as a decoration. The brass pommel at the end of the handle is screwed on. This solution is ideal for display or wearing at the belt, but unsuitable for contact combat. Upon impact, the threading could loosen. Thanks to its high weight (relative to its length), the sword feels very massive and solid, which you will appreciate especially during photo shoots or as part of a costume where the weapon is meant to command respect.

Sword Care

The blade is made of steel, which requires care to prevent rust. If you touch the sword with bare hands, do not forget to wipe it afterwards with a dry cloth and oil it (e.g., with WD-40 or gun oil). You can polish the brass elements on the handle from time to time with a product for non-ferrous metals to maintain their golden shine. The leather on the scabbard will benefit from treatment with beeswax or leather balm.
