Design and Craftsmanship
The body of the crossbow, technically called the tiller, is made of dark wood and adorned with delicate carving that imitates period ornaments. The prod (bow), stirrup, and mechanical parts are metal, ensuring a solid look and a feeling of weight in the hand. The trigger lever and the nut (the part that holds the string) are movable, so you can test the mechanics of a shot "dry" without actually firing a projectile with force. The string is made of natural material imitating hemp or linen fibers.

Historical Insight: Balestrino
With its dimensions, this crossbow resembles a so-called "balestrino" or light cavalry/hunting crossbow. These smaller weapons were popular in the late Middle Ages and Renaissance for hunting small birds or as a backup weapon for travelers. Thanks to their small size, they were easy to carry or even hide under a cloak. They were often richly decorated as they also served as representative gifts or displays of wealth.
Usage and Safety
It is important to emphasize that although the mechanism clicks, it is a purely decorative item unsuitable for practical use. The prod is not tempered to withstand the high tension needed for actual shooting. Do not attempt to modify the crossbow into a functional weapon; this could lead to the prod breaking and injury. This piece is intended as:

Product Care
To keep the crossbow looking like new, simply dust it off occasionally.
