Usage and Safety
This folding knife is opened manually using the nail nick on the blade. Once fully opened, the lockback mechanism located on the spine of the handle automatically engages, preventing accidental closure and protecting your fingers during work. To close the knife, simply press the release mechanism at the rear of the handle spine and carefully fold the blade back.
Since the blade is made of high-quality steel and is extremely sharp, exercise great caution when handling it. The knife is intended for standard cutting tasks (food, wood, ropes). Never use it as a pry bar or screwdriver, as this could damage the delicate Damascus pattern or break the tip.
History of Damascus Steel
Original Damascus steel, known as wootz, has been shrouded in legend since antiquity. Its name is derived from the city of Damascus, where these weapons were traded during the Crusades. Historical sources mention that swords made from this steel could slice a silk scarf in mid-air while remaining incredibly flexible. This unique technology was lost over the centuries. Today's modern Damascus (pattern-welded steel) is a tribute to this craft. By layering steels with different properties, a material is created that combines the hardness of high-carbon steel with the toughness of softer layers.
Knife Care
To ensure the knife brings you joy for generations, provide it with basic care:
- After each use, clean the blade of debris and dry it thoroughly.
- Occasionally treat the natural olive wood with a drop of linseed or mineral oil to prevent cracking and maintain its grain.
- Regularly preserve the blade with a fine film of gun or knife oil to prevent oxidation of the steel layers.
- Never wash the knife in a dishwasher – aggressive chemicals and hot water would irreparably destroy the wooden handle and the steel structure.
We recommend purchasing a high-quality leather belt pouch and a fine sharpening stone to keep the Damascus edge in perfect condition.
