However, please remember that mild steel naturally rusts when exposed to moisture, requiring regular application of a high-quality gun oil to the unpainted back and exposed edges. For outdoor installation or if you prefer a completely maintenance-free piece, we highly recommend choosing stainless steel or elegant brass. The hand-painted motif on the front is delicate – only ever wipe it with a soft, dry cloth and strictly avoid any chemical cleaners or solvents. If the shield is placed outdoors, bear in mind that the paint may weather, fade, or crack over time due to exposure to sun, rain, and frost.
