The axe consists of a simple but sturdy shaft made of hardwood with a rectangular cross-section and rounded edges, ensuring a secure grip and preventing the weapon from twisting in your palm. The axe head is made of mild steel and features a dark, unfinished surface that gives it the authentic patina of a used weapon. In the early and high Middle Ages, the axe was not just a tool for lumberjacks but a feared weapon on battlefields across Europe. To keep the axe retaining its appearance, it requires basic care. Keep the steel head dry and occasionally treat it with a thin layer of oil (e.g., WD-40 or gun oil) to prevent corrosion. It is advisable to treat the wooden shaft with linseed oil or beeswax from time to time, which gives the wood resistance and a beautiful colour. If you are not using the axe for a long time, store it in a dry place with a constant temperature.
