Construction and Craftsmanship

The axe head is forged from carbon steel, and its surface is left in a dark, rough finish (brut de forge) with visible hammer marks. The edges are ground but not razor-sharp, which corresponds to its intended use for scenic purposes. The head is firmly fixed to the haft not only through the eye but is also reinforced with side steel strips (langets) riveted to the wooden shaft. This structural solution protects the haft from being cut or damaged during parries and increases the overall durability of the weapon.

The wooden haft has a dark finish, and its length allows for a comfortable two-handed grip for maximum impact. The package includes two separate leather edge guards, which are easily attached and secured with a snap button. Thanks to them, you can safely transport the axe without the risk of cutting your luggage or injuring yourself.

Carbon Steel Care

Since this is genuine carbon steel, it requires care to prevent rust. Clean the axe after every use and oil the metal parts (e.g., with WD-40 or gun oil). If you are not using the axe for a long time, do not leave it stored in the leather sheaths; leather can absorb moisture from the air and cause corrosion on the edge. Occasionally treat the wooden haft with linseed oil to prevent it from drying out.

Although the axe's construction is very robust, we sell it as a decorative replica for legislative and warranty reasons. The manufacturer does not provide service for potential damage caused during contact combat. The axe is not intended for chopping wood! The edge geometry and heat treatment are designed for appearance and potentially light stage combat, not for heavy forestry work, which could lead to edge damage or loosening of the head.
