Functions and Operation
The main attraction of this model is undoubtedly the folding system. By releasing the mechanism at the front, the limbs are unlocked and fold against the stock of the crossbow. When unfolded, the crossbow is ready to be cocked. The foot stirrup makes it easier for you to draw the string, which requires a force of 120 lbs (approx. 54 kg). The crossbow is equipped with mechanical sights – a fixed front sight and an elevation-adjustable rear sight, allowing you to accurately zero the weapon for the desired distance. The package includes two 16-inch aluminium bolts, so you can start training immediately after unboxing.

Historical Context: From Siege to Backpack
The crossbow as such changed the face of medieval warfare. While training an English longbowman took a lifetime, a crossbowman could be trained in a few weeks. The original historical crossbows were massive, heavy, and unwieldy tools designed to pierce armour. Material-wise, we have also moved on – instead of layered wood, horn, and sinew, which were sensitive to moisture, modern fibreglass works here, retaining its properties in any weather.
Safety and Maintenance
Although it is a piece of sports equipment, the force of 120 lbs is lethal. Follow these rules:
- Never Dry Fire: Shooting without a bolt is the worst thing you can do to a crossbow. The energy has nowhere to go and will destroy the limbs or snap the string. It can also cause injury to the shooter.
- String Care: The string must be regularly lubricated with string wax (especially at the serving where it rubs against the rail) to prevent it from fraying.
- Safe Area: Shoot only at suitable target butts that will stop the bolt safely. A wooden board or tree will destroy the bolt. Always ensure there is a safe area behind the target.
I recommend buying spare 16" aluminium bolts and string wax to extend the life of the crossbow.
