Winged Spear with Two-Part Shaft | 220 cm
Smart Design for Travelers
The dominant feature of the weapon is the massive head (leaf) with a length of approx. 40 cm, made of mild carbon steel. A typical feature of this model is the so-called "wings" or lugs at the socket. The shaft made of stained hardwood gives the weapon an authentic look. The key element, however, is the hidden screw connection in the middle of the pole. A metal screw threads into a metal insert, ensuring a firm connection under tension and compression.
Historical Insight: Why the Wings?
The winged spear (or lugged spear) stems from the tradition of Frankish and Carolingian weapons and was also very popular among Vikings. These side wings had two main purposes: firstly, they prevented the point from penetrating too deeply into the enemy (or game during a hunt), which would make retrieving the weapon difficult. Secondly, they were used in fencing to catch and block enemy weapons and shields.

Care and Important Warning
The head is made of carbon steel, so protect it from moisture and preserve it regularly with oil (e.g., WD-40). You can treat the wooden shaft with wood wax.
Important Safety Warning: Although the screw connection is strong enough for normal handling, it represents a weak point under leverage. We strongly warn against lateral loading of the shaft! Do not use the spear as a lever, do not lift loads with it, and do not use it for full-contact combat where strong side impacts may occur. The thread could tear out. The spear is designed primarily as a decoration and costume accessory.
