Decorative Champagne Saber with Stand | Sabre à Champagne

A Jewel for Any Wine Collection

The saber is crafted with an emphasis on aesthetic appeal. The stainless steel blade shines brightly and requires minimal maintenance. The dark wooden handle contrasts pleasantly with the brass guard, giving the weapon a classic appearance. Included in the package is a lacquered wooden stand (plaque), allowing for easy and safe display on a shelf, sideboard, or mounted on a wall. It serves as an ideal conversation piece that will intrigue any guest.

History: The Art of Sabrage

The technique of opening champagne bottles with a saber, known as sabrage, has its roots in the Napoleonic Wars. It is said that Napoleon's light cavalry officers (Hussars) would open champagne bottles directly from horseback to celebrate victories. Since one hand held the reins, there was no time to uncork the bottle—they simply struck the neck off with their saber. This custom was adopted by the Don Cossacks and remains a pinnacle of sommelier skill today.

Care and Maintenance

Since the blade is made of stainless steel, simply wipe it with a damp cloth and dry it if it gets dusty. The brass parts may develop a patina over time—if you prefer a high shine, you can polish them with a metal cleaner. Treat the wooden parts with furniture polish.

Important Safety Warning

This saber is sold as a purely decorative item. Its construction, balance, and material are not designed to withstand the physical impact against pressurized glass. It is NOT SUITABLE for practical sabrage. Attempting to open a bottle with this decoration could result in damage to the saber or injury. If you are looking for a tool for actual bottle opening, please choose from our range of functional sabrage sabers.

This sabre is NOT suitable for practical sabre-cutting. For practical sabre-cutting, we recommend this Champagne sabre for sabrage or the Sabrage sabre Mercury.
