Russian Shashka M1927: Red Army Sabre
6xAre you looking for a weapon that carries the spirit of the Caucasian mountaineers and the harsh history of Soviet Russia? This replica of the Russian Shashka, manufactured by the renowned company Windlass Steelcrafts, is a faithful tribute to the legendary weapon that served both Cossacks and officers of the Red Army. The Shashka (from the Adyghe "sashkhwa" – long knife) is unique for its lack of a guard and a hilt that sinks into the scabbard, allowing for a lightning-fast draw and strike in a single motion. This specific model is decorated with symbols of the Soviet Union – a star, hammer, and sickle on the brass pommel, placing it in the post-1917 era, specifically the M1927 pattern. Russian Shashka M1927: Red Army Sabre – Windlass Steelcrafts
From the Caucasus to Red Square
Originally a weapon of Caucasian tribes from the 12th century, the Shashka was adopted by the Cossacks for its efficiency in horseback combat and later, in 1881, became the official weapon of the Russian army. This version reflects the form the weapon took in the hands of the Red Army. The hard wooden grip is ergonomically shaped and finished with a massive brass pommel in the shape of a bird's head, which aids in drawing the weapon from the scabbard.
Important Note on Usage
We want to be completely transparent with you. The blade of this Shashka is made of 1065 high carbon steel, it is hardened (48-52 HRC) and tempered. Both the materials used and the craftsmanship would theoretically allow for practical use in fencing. However, due to the impossibility of processing remote warranty claims with the Indian manufacturer, we offer this weapon strictly as a decorative item. This means that whatever you do with the Shashka (fencing, cutting tests) is done entirely at your own risk and without the possibility of claiming a warranty for any damage caused by such use. Officially, the weapon is intended as:
- A collector's piece commemorating the history of the USSR and Cossack troops.
- A costume accessory for re-enactment.
- A high-end interior decoration.
