The historical model for this hat dates back to the first half of the 17th century, specifically the turbulent era of the Thirty Years' War and the reign of the French King Louis XIII. The wide brim, which is elegantly turned up and pinned with a decorative buckle on one side, originally served a purely military purpose. While the wide edge protected the musketeer's face from harsh sun and rain, the turned-up side ensured that the brim did not get in the way when placing a long musket against the shoulder or when quickly drawing a rapier. The rich decoration functioned historically as a clear visual indicator of social status, wealth, and military rank. This type of hat was worn not only by the French royal musketeers but also by noblemen and mercenaries across Europe at the time. Warrior, to keep this hat in perfect condition for a long time and to ensure it retains its typical shape, it requires proper care. Never wash the hat in a washing machine or dry it in a tumble dryer, as there is a high risk of irreversible damage and loss of shape. For regular dirt, simply brush it gently with a soft clothes brush in the direction of the fibres. Always protect the ostrich feather from heavy rain, bending, and open flames (the material is flammable). Store it in a dry place, ideally resting on a hat block.
