How Does the Stock Lock Work?

The Spring-Loaded Detent Principle

This mechanism operates on the principle of a spring-loaded ball detent. In its resting state, the spring pushes against the steel ball, which seats into one of the adjustment holes on the stock's buffer tube, firmly fixing it in the chosen position. When you pull the T-handle, the entire assembly moves backward against the spring's force. This allows the ball to retract from the locking hole, letting you slide the stock freely forwards or backwards. Once you find the ideal length, simply release the handle, and the spring instantly pushes the ball into the nearest hole, securely locking the stock once more.

Installation and Maintenance

Easy Replacement

Installation is quite straightforward. First, use a suitable screwdriver to remove the old, damaged mechanism from the stock body. Then, assemble the new mechanism: place the steel ball and spring into the guide housing, cover it with the T-handle, and screw the entire assembly back into place with the two provided screws. Ensure the screws are firmly tightened to prevent any stock wobble.

Safety and Stability

A securely locked stock is essential for safe and accurate shooting. A loose or wobbly stock can negatively affect your stance, aim, and ultimately, your shot's precision. Periodically check that the screws are tight.

Caring for the Mechanism

Keep the mechanism clean and free of coarse debris (sand, dust) that could impede its smooth operation. For extra-smooth action, you can apply a drop of light machine oil to the ball and spring, but avoid over-lubricating as it can attract dirt.
