An Oil with a Fascinating History

Did you know that Ballistol wasn't created for the workshop, but for the military? In 1904, the German Imperial Army commissioned the development of a single, all-round oil that soldiers could use for everything: cleaning and maintaining their rifles, preserving their wooden stocks and leather gear, and even for treating minor wounds, scratches, and abrasions. Dr. Helmut Klever, son of the company's founder, created a formula that met all these requirements.

The name "Ballistol" is a combination of two words: "Ballistics" and the Latin word "oleum" (meaning oil). The name perfectly reflects its original purpose as an oil for firearms.

Directions for Use and Care

Using Ballistol is very simple. Always consider the material and the specific task at hand.

• Shake the can well before use.
• Spray evenly onto the surface to be cleaned or treated from a short distance.
• Allow it to work for a few moments – or several hours for heavily rusted parts.
• Wipe off any excess oil or loosened dirt with a clean, dry cloth.
• For leather care, apply a thin layer, let it soak in, and polish if necessary.
• Store the spray can upright in a dry place at temperatures below 50°C (122°F).

This product is an excellent tool, but it is also a flammable, pressurized aerosol. Please adhere to these rules:

• Danger: Extremely flammable aerosol. Pressurised container: May burst if heated.
• Keep away from heat, hot surfaces, sparks, open flames and other ignition sources. No smoking.
• Do not spray on an open flame or other ignition source.
• Do not pierce or burn, even after use.
• Protect from sunlight. Do not expose to temperatures exceeding 50°C / 122°F.
• Keep out of reach of children.
• Dispose of contents/container to recycling.
