The History of the Legendary Ballistic Oil

In 1904, the German Imperial Army commissioned scientist Friedrich Klever with a difficult task: to develop a universal oil that could reliably clean and maintain the metal parts of weapons, preserve wooden stocks and soldiers' leather gear, and also serve to treat minor wounds in harsh field conditions. The result was the so-called Ballistic Oil (hence the name Ballistol). Because it is completely harmless and safe even for food contact, it quickly found its way into ordinary households and workshops. The modern formula retains these fantastic historical properties to this day, offering an environmentally friendly maintenance solution without compromise.

Proper Use of the Liquid Form and Maintenance Tips

Unlike aerosol sprays, this liquid oil is absolutely ideal for surface application using a soft cloth or a brush. It is excellently suited for soaking small corroded parts or for thorough surface waterproofing of leather saddles, belts, and wooden furniture. Apply the oil gently to the treated surface, let it soak in sufficiently, and wipe away any excess with a dry cotton cloth. Thanks to its exceptional creeping capability, the oil penetrates even the smallest micro-cracks in the metal and reliably displaces moisture, thereby halting incipient corrosion long-term. The oil does not thicken over time and leaves no sticky resinous residue.

Although it is not a pressurized aerosol, the product is classified as a flammable liquid. Always keep the container tightly closed. Completely avoid handling and storing it near heat, hot surfaces, sparks, and open flames. Do not smoke during application. Due to the presence of flammable substances, air freight and export of this product to Switzerland are strictly prohibited.
