Chrome-Plated High-Pressure Paraffin Lantern for Historical Camps and Outdoor

Ingenious System and Premium Materials

At the core of this legendary camping lantern is a precisely manufactured brass fuel tank. Using the integrated hand pump, pressure is built up to force the paraffin into the carburettor. There, the fuel is vaporised by heat and then burns highly efficiently inside a mantle impregnated with special luminous salts, generating a brilliant and warm light. To ensure the lamp functions reliably even in harsh weather conditions, it is protected by a highly heat-resistant borosilicate glass cylinder made by Schott, which is entirely unaffected by sudden temperature changes, rain, or strong winds. The entire mechanism is hand-assembled from more than 200 individual parts, guaranteeing unrivalled quality and longevity.

A Glimpse into History

The core mechanism of this pressure lamp was invented in 1910. In an era when widespread electrification was still merely a vision of the future, this technology was an absolute breakthrough. Lanterns of this type quickly became essential not only in private households but also as standard equipment for armies, railway workers, sailors, and emergency services around the globe. To this day, they remain a symbol of self-sufficiency off the grid and are highly popular for WWI and WWII military re-enactment as well as civilian historical camping.

Safety Guidelines and Maintenance

Because this is a high-performance thermal device that burns pressurised fuel, strict safety rules must be followed at all times. Always ignite and use the lantern outdoors or in exceptionally well-ventilated spaces to completely eliminate the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning. The top hood of the lantern becomes dangerously hot during operation – handle with extreme care to prevent severe burns. Strictly use only pure paraffin oil or kerosene; never use petrol or other highly volatile, flammable liquids, as this poses an immediate risk of explosion. Keep the lamp clean, regularly inspect the valve seals, and periodically oil the pump's leather cup to keep it supple and functioning flawlessly.

Recommended Accessories

To ensure uninterrupted illumination, we highly recommend purchasing an ample supply of high-quality pure paraffin oil and several spare mantles, as the mantles are consumable items. For safe transport and storage during your historical events, a sturdy wooden transport box is the perfect practical addition to your order.
