The surface features a "battle-worn" finish, giving it a rugged, authentic look right out of the box. The edge is reinforced with a metal rim, riveted along the entire circumference. This not only adds to the aesthetic but also protects the wood from splitting during light combat or transport.

At its heart sits a 16-gauge (approx. 1.6 mm) steel boss (umbo). It is blackened and hammered, perfectly complementing the overall design. On the reverse side, a sturdy wooden handle spans the center, allowing for a firm grip directly behind the boss, just as the Norsemen held their shields in the shield wall.

Round shields were the backbone of Viking tactics. This specific design is inspired by Fenrir, the monstrous wolf of Norse mythology and son of Loki. The twin wolf motif, rendered in a traditional knotwork style, reflects the deep roots of Norse art.
