Practical Advice and Usage

The Hound is intended for adult users (18+). A major advantage of this model is the compatibility with a cocking string, making it far easier to handle than older models like the MK-150 series. Always ensure the string is properly seated in the trigger mechanism and the bolt is pushed all the way back against the string before firing. Never dry-fire the crossbow! Firing without a bolt will cause immediate damage to the limbs and barrel, which is not covered by warranty.

Maintenance: The string is the heart of your crossbow. Apply string wax regularly, especially to the centre serving. The rail (barrel) should be kept clean and lightly lubricated with silicone grease or oil to reduce friction. After shooting in damp conditions, dry the crossbow thoroughly and lightly oil the metal parts to prevent rust.

Recommended Accessories and Bolts

For the MK-XB27BK, we recommend 16-inch aluminium bolts or carbon bolts of the same length. Carbon bolts are more durable and won't bend like aluminium if they hit a hard object. Use standard 100-125 grain field points for the best flight characteristics.
