Protect your neck like a true knight! This chainmail gorget, "The Red Knight" standard by Mythrojan, is built for historical combat and re-enactment. It is crafted from flat rings with an inner diameter of approx. 8.6 mm, which are alternately solid and round-riveted (known as an "Alt" weave). This historically accurate and strong 4-in-1 construction, favoured by medieval warriors, offers an excellent balance of protection, flexibility, and weight. The blackened (burnished) finish on the steel provides an authentic look and protects against corrosion. A robust inner lining of red cotton ensures comfort during wear. Historically Accurate Neck Defence
The chainmail gorget was a key piece of armour in the 14th century and beyond. Knights and soldiers wore it to protect the vulnerable neck and shoulders, often as a supplement under a helmet or with plate armour. This "Red Knight" model is inspired by these historical traditions, combining proven protection with quality craftsmanship.
Strong and Durable Construction
The gorget is forged from mild steel with a wire thickness of approximately 0.9 mm. The alternating riveted and solid ring method eliminates the weak spots found in butted-only or riveted-only mail. The blackened finish gives the armour a rugged look and provides essential protection against rust. The sturdy red cotton lining not only prevents chafing but also helps to absorb impacts and distribute the armour's weight.

Care for Your Chainmail
Although the armour is blackened, it is still mild steel and requires care to prevent rust.
- Wipe the armour dry after each use, especially after combat or exposure to rain.
- Store it in a dry place, wrapped in oiled cloth or paper.
- Regularly treat it with a light coating of oil (e.g., gun oil) to prevent rust.
- Do not machine wash the lining. Clean it by brushing or airing it out.
