Such weaves were prized by Roman legionaries and high medieval knights as they offered significantly better protection against thrusts and penetration. Care for Your Chainmail
Even though the armour is blackened, it is still made of mild steel, which requires care to prevent rust.
- Wipe the armour dry after each use, especially after combat or in the rain.
- Store it in a dry place.
- Regularly treat it with a light coating of oil (e.g., a gun oil or even cooking oil) to prevent rust. Wipe off any excess oil with a cloth.
