Design and Construction

This hand guard consists of two main parts that work together to offer comprehensive protection:

• Forearm Cuff: The sturdy leather cuff is decorated with vertical stripes of aluminum chainmail, enhancing protection and adding an authentic look. The edges of the cuff are trimmed with soft suede for greater comfort. The cuff fastens to the arm with two adjustable leather straps and buckles, ensuring a secure fit.
• Hand and Knuckle Guard: Sewn onto a flexible leather base are plates of tough 7-8 oz (approx. 2.8–3.2 mm) leather, which cover the back of the hand, the thumb, and the first knuckles of the fingers. The main knuckles and thumb are heavily padded to absorb impact. The guard is secured to the hand via leather loops through which you slide your fingers.

This gauntlet is the ideal accessory for characters such as knights, mercenaries, men-at-arms, and other heavily armoured combatants in LARP, historical combat, or reenactment. Its robust construction offers a high degree of protection while maintaining enough flexibility to effectively wield a weapon.

Care Instructions

To maintain the quality and extend the life of your gauntlet, please care for it properly:

• Leather Parts: Remove dirt with a brush. If needed, gently clean the surface with a cloth and leather soap, then allow it to air dry away from direct heat. Periodically treat the leather with a conditioner or wax.
• Chainmail Parts: The aluminum chainmail is resistant to rust. Simply wiping it with a dry cloth to remove dust and debris is sufficient.
