Historical Context:

The design of these gauntlets draws inspiration from an artefact dating back to the 16th century, now exhibited at the Musee De Cluny in Paris. It is important to note that the original historical piece did not feature plated cuffs – these are a modern addition in the period style to enhance protection. Chainmail and, later, plate hand protection were essential components of a knight's and soldier's armour during the Late Middle Ages and Renaissance, used in battles, skirmishes, and tournaments to protect the vulnerable hands during combat with melee weapons.

Potential Uses:

These gauntlets are an excellent choice for historical fencing, reenactment, or LARP, where you will appreciate not only their authentic appearance but also the functional protection for your hands. You can also use them as an impressive accessory for a costume at medieval fairs, fantasy events, or as a unique collector's or display item for any history and militaria enthusiast. Thanks to the combination of rings and plates, they provide a good balance between protection and maintaining a degree of finger dexterity.
