Even with careful use and when blocking stronger strikes, the weapon may break. Remember, this is wood, not steel. Therefore, always protect your hands and especially your eyes with appropriate protective gear (gloves, goggles, or a helmet) during combat training.
How to Care for Your Cutlass
To keep your cutlass looking its best for a long time, protect it from moisture and prolonged direct sunlight. If it gets dirty, wipe it with a dry or only slightly damp cloth. Do not store it in extreme temperatures (e.g., in a hot car) to prevent the wood from warping. Do not use it for chopping wood or other tasks for which it is not intended.
