Application and Practical Use
This special product is designed to protect mechanically highly stressed parts. The ceramic additive creates a protective layer on metal surfaces that prevents dust, dirt, and gunpowder residue from adhering. The oil is absolutely ideal for lubricating the locks of percussion and flintlock weapons, the hinges of plate armour, and for the overall preservation of carbon steel sword and dagger blades. Before application, the spray must be shaken thoroughly so that the ceramic micro-particles are evenly distributed within the synthetic base. Afterwards, simply apply a thin layer to the desired metal surface and wipe off any excess with a clean cloth.
From Animal Fat to High-Tech Ceramics
When our ancestors in the Middle Ages and early modern period protected their swords and muskets from destructive rust, they had to rely on animal tallow, beeswax, or olive oil. However, these organic materials had a major disadvantage – they solidified in the cold, went rancid in the heat, and often attracted dirt, causing the weapon to seize. Fortunately, today we have synthetic oils at our disposal that do not gum up and retain their excellent lubricating properties. Furthermore, the addition of ceramics ensures that even if the liquid component of the oil evaporates during extreme friction or a gunshot, the ceramic particles continue to perform their lubricating and protective functions.
Storage and Safety Guidelines
This product is intended exclusively for treating metal surfaces and mechanical parts. Unlike standard universal oils, it is not primarily designed for treating leather or natural wood. The oil contains no silicone or Teflon (PTFE) and does not resinify. The canister is under constant pressure, so protect it from direct sunlight and do not expose it to temperatures exceeding 50 °C (122 °F). Keep the spray out of the reach of children and ensure adequate ventilation when applying it in enclosed spaces.
