Sword Display Stand "Daimyo" – Black Walnut Veneer

1x

Your sword is not just a piece of steel. It is a work of art, a relic, or a faithful companion that deserves a place of honour in your home, not to lie dusty under a bed or in a closet. This single-tier sword stand (known in Japanese as a Katanakake) allows you to display your weapon with the elegance it deserves. Thanks to the Black Walnut veneer finish, the stand has a luxurious and dignified appearance that fits perfectly into both a modern living room and a period-style armoury. Sword Display Stand "Daimyo" – Black Walnut Veneer

Elegance and Protection Combined

Whether you own a sharp Katana, a practice Iaito, a Bokken, or perhaps a European dagger or messer, this stand is ready. A key feature is the velvet lining in the resting slots. This protects the lacquered scabbard (saya) of your sword from scratches and scuffs during handling. The stand is delivered flat-packed. Assembly is intuitive and can be done in moments using the included screws. Since wood is a natural material, slight variations can occur, meaning the stand might wobble slightly on a perfectly flat surface. If this happens, it is easily fixed by applying a small piece of felt to the base or lightly sanding the contact surface. It is a small trade-off for the beautiful look of the natural wood decor.

How to Display a Katana Correctly? A Lesson in Etiquette

As an enthusiast, you surely know that the way a sword is displayed carries symbolism.

  • Edge Up: Japanese swords are always placed in the stand with the cutting edge (ha) facing upwards. This is not just tradition; it has a practical reason – it prevents the sharp edge from resting on the inside of the scabbard, keeping it sharp.
  • Handle to the Left: In times of peace or in a friendly environment, the handle (tsuka) points to the left. This means the sword cannot be drawn immediately with the right hand, signalling your peaceful intentions.

Maintenance and Care

To keep the stand looking great, simply wipe it occasionally with a dry or slightly damp cloth to remove dust. Do not use harsh cleaning agents that could damage the veneer. Keep the velvet lining clean to prevent dust and abrasive particles from accumulating, which could scratch the sword's scabbard.

Bytelný, skvěle vypadající a funkční stojan s "filcem" proti poškrábání zbraně.
