Men's Nightshirts

A nightgown is actually a sleeping shirt. Today, few men sleep in nightgowns, but in the Renaissance, there was nothing special about men's nightgowns. They were commonly used and included a sleeping cap. The nightgown was created over time from the lower shirt, which was worn under outer clothing. Then only the outer dress was taken off for the night and they slept in their lower shirt. The first mention of nightgowns in Bohemia dates back to the end of the 15th century. Of course, any progress in clothing was related to people's wealth. So we can assume that the poorer man could only dream of nightgowns for some time.
