During this era, wealthy aldermen, rich burghers, and of course the nobility treated themselves to more ostentatious and richly gathered nightwear. Cold and forbidding stone houses or castles required effective protection against the night frost. The shirt is worn as a basic and often the only night garment. An essential part is the included nightcap, which prevented unwanted loss of body heat from the head while sleeping in an unheated chamber. The rich flounce at the bottom provides ample space for a free and safe stride. The garment is ideal for historical festivals, LARP events, but it will also serve you as exceptionally comfortable home nightwear.

Cotton Clothing Care and Safety Guidelines

The 100% cotton canvas excels in breathability and the ability to absorb sweat. To preserve the fabric's quality, we recommend you wash the shirt gently in a washing machine at 30 to 40 °C (86 to 104 °F). Dry it hanging freely, ideally out of direct sunlight, which could fade the colours over time. Ironing is suitable on a medium setting intended for cotton. More details can be found in the cleaning and maintenance instructions. Safety warning: The wide cascading sleeves and the loose fit of the long shirt present a significant fire hazard. Never stand close to open flames (campfires, fireplaces, candles) while wearing this garment, as there is a risk of severe burns!
