Shoe polish also easily hides minor scuffs or knocked toes from the dance floor. If you get caught in the rain at an outdoor event and the shoes get wet, stuff them with old newspaper and let them dry very slowly at normal room temperature. Under no circumstances should you dry the shoes on a radiator, near an open fire, or in harsh, direct sunlight! Rapid drying would irreversibly damage the leather—it would harden and crack.
