De Luxe Sword Stand for Katana and Tanto
Are you looking for a place for your samurai weapon that would underscore its beauty while safely protecting it? This de luxe table stand is not just an ordinary piece of wood, but a true throne for your sword. The combination of high-gloss black lacquer, reminiscent of traditional Japanese Urushi lacquering, and rich red felt creates a dramatic contrast that immediately draws attention. It is designed to elegantly present a set of two items – typically a Katana (or Wakizashi) in the upper section and a Tanto dagger (or a cleaning kit) on the lower platform. De Luxe Sword Stand for Katana and Tanto: High-Gloss Black with Red Felt
Design and Functionality
The stand is made of high-quality wood with an emphasis on a smooth finish. Its construction is specific in its layout:
- Upper Tier: Classical U-shaped forks are designed to hold a long sword (Katana) or a medium sword (Wakizashi). The contact surfaces are lined with red felt, which protects the lacquered scabbard (Saya) from scratches and dampens noise when placing the weapon.
- Lower Tier: Unlike common two-tier stands, you won't find a second pair of forks here, but rather a flat shelf also lined with red velvet/felt. This space is ideal for placing a Tanto dagger, a decorative fan, or a box containing a cleaning kit.
Proper Sword Display
To ensure your sword looks great and is stored correctly, follow historical customs. The sword is always placed in the stand with the edge (Ha) facing upwards. This protects the edge from dulling against the inside of the scabbard. The handle (Tsuka) should point to the left, symbolizing peace and friendly intentions (the sword is harder to draw with the right hand), or to the right if you wish to signal combat readiness or distrust.
Stand Maintenance
The high-gloss finish ("piano black") is susceptible to fingerprints and dust.
- Remove dust with a fine feather duster or microfiber cloth.
- Polish any smudges with a dry, soft cloth. Do not use aggressive chemical cleaners or rough sponges that could scratch the lacquer.
- Place the stand in a stable location away from direct sunlight to prevent the colours from fading.
