Legendary US Fighting Knife USMC – 1095 Steel & Leather Handle
Symbol of the Pacific War and Modern Bushcraft
The knife features a classic Clip Point blade with a blood groove (fuller), made from the legendary 1095 carbon steel (often referred to as Cro-Van). This steel is prized for its edge retention and ease of sharpening. To prevent corrosion and reflections in combat, the blade is coated with a black protective layer of durable epoxy powder. The blade is hardened to 57 HRC, representing the ideal compromise between hardness and toughness – the knife will not break easily.
The handle is a chapter in itself. It consists of stacked leather washers, which are pressed onto the tang under pressure, shaped, and then lacquered. This material is not only pleasant to the touch and doesn't feel cold in winter, but above all, it ensures a secure grip even with wet or sweaty hands. The knife is finished with a steel pommel, which can be used as a hammer in an emergency.
The package naturally includes a quality leather sheath in brown with the embossed USMC logo (Eagle, Globe, and Anchor), which, like the knife, is manufactured in the USA.

How to Care for a Legend
Although the blade is protected by epoxy, the edge itself (the bevel) is bare carbon steel. This is prone to corrosion. Clean the knife after every use and apply a thin layer of oil to the edge (e.g., gun oil or clove oil). I recommend treating the leather handle and sheath occasionally with beeswax or a leather conditioner to prevent the material from drying out and cracking. The knife is not designed for throwing – impacts could damage the tang of the handle.
I recommend that you also acquire a sharpening kit for this knife, because although carbon steel holds an edge for a long time, it deserves the best care.
