More Than Just a Shovel
What makes this tool exceptional is its construction. The shovel blade is made of blackened, specially hardened steel that can withstand rough handling even in rocky soil. Using a robust rotary mechanism, you can lock the blade in several positions. In the basic position, it serves as a classic shovel or spade. If you lock the blade at a 90-degree angle, you get a very effective hoe, ideal for digging in hard ground or tending to a campfire.
The handle is made from the same polymer used for Glock pistol frames. It is lightweight, shock-resistant, and comfortable to touch even in freezing temperatures. Furthermore, it is telescopic – simply extend it to gain better leverage for digging. But that's not all. Hidden inside the hollow handle is a sharp wood saw. This can be easily removed and screwed onto the end of the handle, giving you a full-fledged tool for cutting roots or branches. The tip of the saw blade is also shaped to be used as a flathead screwdriver.

History and Usage
Entrenching tools (E-tools) have been part of soldiers' equipment since the times of the Roman legions, but their modern folding form became established during the World Wars. Originally, they served only to quickly dig in for protection against enemy fire (foxholes). The modern concept represented by this model pushes the boundaries of usability. Today, it's not just about digging. Thanks to the saw and the ability to convert it into a hoe, it is a universal tool for wilderness survival.
Maintenance and Care
This shovel is practically maintenance-free, yet it deserves a little care. After use in mud or wet conditions, clean and dry the steel blade to prevent surface rust where the black finish may have worn off. I recommend occasionally lubricating the threaded locking mechanism and the telescopic handle with silicone oil or grease so that it always loosens smoothly. Remove sawdust from the saw blade after use and store it back in the handle.
