For a mail shirt in size XL you will need approx. 13kg mail rings. How do we make the rings? The brass wire is wound up, to form long spiral tube. Brass mail rings, 1 kg-pack, not riveted
- made if brass wire
- 2mm thick wire
- inside diameter min. 11mm (if you need a different one, please note the requested inside diameter in the comment of your order)
- 1kg contains approx. 950 rings (with an inner diameter of 11mm) or approx. 1740 rings (with an inner diameter of 6mm)
Important note: The ends of the rings are not connected. Due to the physical properties of brass, these rings are not suitable for production of functional chain-mail armor. They are well suited as ornamental parts. These rings can be braided into mechanically unstretched parts of the armor (e.g. edges) or as second ring connections into any part. The rings can be made straight with pliers and so closed. The ring ends can be alternatively soldered, but this is rather laborious.
