Leather Gear Care and Maintenance

Genuine leather with a thickness of approx. 3 mm (0.12 in) is a tough material that deserves regular care. The leather would dry out, harden, and potentially crack. Always allow it to air dry naturally at room temperature. Minor variations in colour and texture are natural characteristics of genuine leather, giving it a beautiful historical patina.

Important Safety Warning

This frog is primarily designed for carrying a dagger safely enclosed in a rigid leather or wooden scabbard. Under no circumstances should you insert a bare blade with sharpened edges! A sharp blade could very easily slice through the leather lacing or the tube itself during a draw or a careless movement, potentially causing severe injury to your hand or leg. For training purposes, you may safely insert a blunt historical fencing weapon.
