Stiletto Style Folding Knife with Micarta Handle – 4 Inch Blade

Construction and Features

This knife combines historical design with modern materials. The 420 stainless steel blade features a classic spear-point shape with a false edge on the spine, giving it a piercing tip. It opens with two hands using a nail nick on the blade. When open, the blade is securely locked by a Back-lock mechanism, the release lever of which is located at the rear of the handle spine. The handle scales are made of Micarta – a composite material of linen and resin, which is not only very durable and pleasant to the touch but its texture resembles the structure of wood or horn.

A Bit of History: From Assassin to Gentleman

The original stiletto was a thin thrusting dagger of Renaissance Italy, designed to penetrate chainmail or gaps in plate armour. In the 20th century, especially in the 1950s, this shape became famous thanks to American films as the feared "switchblade" of the Italian mafia and street gangs. This model takes the best of the visual side of this legend – the slender lines and aggressive point – but translates it into the form of a legal and socially acceptable tool with a secure lock and quality materials.

Maintenance and Legal Warning

To ensure the knife brings you joy for as long as possible and to avoid trouble while travelling:

  • Maintenance: Keep the blade clean and dry. Occasionally lubricate the lock mechanism and pivot pin with a drop of knife oil. Micarta is maintenance-free but may acquire an interesting patina over time.
  • Travel: Although this is not a switchblade, its dagger-like shape and blade length (100 mm / 4 inches) can be problematic in some countries. Always check current laws before travelling to Germany, the UK, Italy, or Norway. In the UK, for example, carrying a locking knife of any length in public without a "good reason" is illegal.

I recommend purchasing an elegant leather belt pouch for this knife, which will underscore its classic style and protect it from scratches in your pocket.
