Usage and Features
Carbon arrows are now the standard for most compound and modern recurve bows. Their main domain is speed and a flat flight trajectory. Due to the high stiffness of the material, the arrow stabilizes faster upon release (oscillation settles sooner), leading to higher accuracy. This model is fitted with a screw-in point, giving you a huge advantage in versatility – if the point is damaged or you need to change the weight, you can easily replace it. The arrow is equipped with prominent polymer vanes (fletching) approximately 10 cm (4 inches) long, ensuring perfect flight guidance.

High-tech Material in the Archer's Hands
While aluminium arrows were the revolution of the 20th century, carbon is the material of the space age. Carbon fibres are woven and bonded with resin, creating a composite that is light but incredibly strong in tension. Its greatest advantage is "memory" – if a carbon arrow bends (within its limits), it returns immediately to its original straight shape. Duralumin would permanently bend in such a case; wood would snap. The only disadvantage of carbon compared to heavier aluminium tubes may be greater sensitivity to crosswinds when shooting at long distances (over 50 metres / 55 yards), where the light arrow drifts more easily.
Care and Safety Principles
Although carbon is almost indestructible, it requires specific care to ensure shooting remains safe:
- Flex Test: This is the most important rule. Before every shooting session, flex the arrow and listen. If you hear cracking or see damaged fibres, break the arrow immediately and discard it. Shooting with a cracked carbon arrow is extremely dangerous as it can shatter into your hand upon release.
- Target Butt: Due to the high penetration power of carbon, use only high-quality target butts (thick ethafoam boards or compressed straw).
- Hard Obstacles: If you hit a stone, tree, or wall, it is likely that the point will be pushed into the shaft and the arrow will splinter (mushroom). Such an arrow must be discarded.
I recommend purchasing a rubber arrow puller (carbon "sticks" strongly in the target) and arrow lube for easier retrieval to go with these arrows.
