German Halberd with Split Shaft | 15th-16th Century
Smart Solution for Modern Re-enactors
Transporting two-meter polearms is a nightmare for any fencer. This model solves it elegantly: the hardwood shaft is split in the middle by a sturdy screw connection. In moments, you can disassemble the weapon into two manageable pieces. The connection is metal, strong, and unobtrusive during normal handling.
The halberd head is made of steel and decorated with perforations (drilled holes), a historical method to reduce weight and add ornamentation. It combines three deadly elements: a long thrusting spike to stop cavalry, a heavy axe blade to crush armour, and a rear hook (fluke) to pull riders from their saddles.
Historical Insight: Halm & Barte
The name "halberd" is derived from two German words: Halm (staff/pole) and Barte (axe). It was a versatile infantry weapon capable of facing both cavalry and foot soldiers. German and Swiss mercenaries mastered its use—thrusting into unprotected areas, chopping with crushing force, and hooking the legs of horses and knights.

Care and Safety Warning
Protect metal parts from moisture and preserve them regularly with oil (e.g., WD-40). You can treat the wooden shaft with wood wax.
Important Notice: This halberd is sold as a decorative item. Although it looks robust, the screw connection in the middle of the shaft represents a structural limit. We strongly warn against prying and strong lateral strikes, which could strip the threads. The weapon is ideal for formation drills, as a costume accessory, for parades, or as wall decoration, but it is not intended for full-contact combat.
