Samurai Tanto Fixed Blade Knife – Pakkawood Handle
Modern Take on a Japanese Classic
The dominant feature of this knife is the American Tanto style blade. Unlike historical Japanese originals, this knife features a sharply angled tip (secondary point), giving it exceptional durability for piercing and penetrating harder materials. The blade is made of 420 Stainless Steel. This steel is popular for its high corrosion resistance and toughness. A major advantage is also that it is very easy to sharpen, so you can restore the edge even in field conditions.
The handle is not only ergonomic but also visually appealing. The scales are made of Pakkawood (stabilized laminated wood saturated with resin), which features a beautiful reddish-brown grain resembling rare woods but is much more resistant to moisture and temperature changes. The handle ends with a solid steel pommel with a hole for a lanyard. The package includes a sturdy sheath made of cowhide, which safely protects the knife during transport.
Historical Context
The original tantō was a dagger worn by samurai as part of their weaponry, often in combination with a longer sword (tachi or katana). It served as a backup weapon for close-quarters combat. While the historical tantō usually had a smoothly curved tip, this knife utilizes the modern "angular" geometry that became popularized in the West in the 1980s for tactical and combat knives.

Care and Maintenance
420 stainless steel is low maintenance, but to preserve its shine and sharpness, we recommend cleaning and drying the knife after each use. Occasional lubrication of the blade with oil (e.g., gun oil) will extend its lifespan. Maintain the leather sheath using leather conditioners (beeswax or impregnation) to prevent cracking and keep it supple. Never wash the knife in a dishwasher!
Safety Warning
This knife is a sharp tool designed for general outdoor use. Although it has a martial appearance, it is not constructed for heavy contact fencing or prying heavy loads (risk of tip breakage). Please use it responsibly.
