The historical inspiration for this spectacular gown dates back to the High Baroque period, approximately the turn of the 17th and 18th centuries. During this era, the European aristocracy favoured opulent materials, deep necklines, and richly decorated layered skirts, which clearly demonstrated the wearer's wealth and influence. The dress is traditionally worn over a voluminous petticoat (which is included in the delivery), giving it the characteristic bell shape. The bodice elegantly tapers to a point at the front, visually slimming the waist, and its striking neckline is richly trimmed with decorative lace and pearls. The long sleeves are magnificently decorated with fluffy tulle and lace ruffles. A highly interesting fact is that despite their apparent impracticality, women could ride horses very comfortably in such dresses thanks to the wide skirt and period cut, riding side-saddle, of course. The ensemble is further crowned by a matching felt tricorn hat with delicate lace and an elegant veil.

The satin used (95% polyester, 5% elastane) gives the dress a luxurious shine, while the elastane blend ensures slight elasticity and high wearing comfort. The tulle (a combination of polyamide and polyester) on the sleeves is wonderfully fluffy and holds its shape perfectly.

Care of the Historical Gown and Safety Instructions

Due to the use of synthetic satin, tulle, and fine details such as hand-sewn pearls and lace, we strongly advise entrusting the care of this dress exclusively to a professional dry cleaner. Home washing in a washing machine could irreversibly damage the fabric structure, tear the tulle, and loosen the pearls. Tumble drying is completely unsuitable. If the dress requires light ironing, do so very carefully on the lowest possible setting (for synthetics) and ideally on the reverse side. Synthetic fibres are prone to melting, so exercise extreme caution near open flames (historical candles, fireplaces, torches). Always follow the complete cleaning and maintenance instructions.

Recommended Accessories

To achieve the absolutely perfect High Baroque silhouette, we recommend wearing a historical laced corset under the dress. A folding fan, fine leather gloves, and historical women's shoes with a slight heel also suit the dress wonderfully. Please note that the white historical wig and the black shoes worn by the model in the photographs are not included with this costume.
