How to Layer and Wear the Gown Correctly

To ensure the skirt retains its magnificent, widely spread shape, we highly recommend wearing a historical corset (stays) and especially hip pads or a basket frame (pannier) underneath the underskirt, which are not included in the package. The outer dress is then layered over this prepared foundation. This costume is crafted from luxurious brocade with a high content of metallic fibres, which requires specific and very gentle care to preserve its shimmer and form:
- The garments must never be machine washed or tumble dried. Mechanical friction and hot air would break the delicate metallic threads and irreparably damage the fabric structure. Always take the gown to a professional dry cleaner for specialized chemical dry cleaning.
- After each wear, allow the gown to air out thoroughly on a wide, padded hanger in a dry room kept away from direct sunlight.
- Ironing must be performed exclusively from the reverse side at the lowest temperature setting (silk program) using a dry cotton pressing cloth. Never apply direct iron pressure to the face of the brocade or to the delicate lace.
Safety and Wear Restrictions
The gown is intended for formal social events, historical weddings, theatrical performances, and LARP. Due to the use of synthetic fibres and metallic threads in the brocade, we emphasize an increased risk when moving near open flames. At historical festivals and banquets, maintain a safe distance from candles, torches, and open fireplaces, as the fabric is not fireproof. For safety reasons, the gown is not intended for any form of contact fencing or for wear in rough terrain, where threads could be pulled or the delicate lace on the sleeves torn.
