Historical Context And Design Of The Trousers
The historical inspiration for these trousers dates from the late fifteenth to the late sixteenth century in Central Europe. Landsknechts were elite and feared European mercenaries renowned not only for their brutality and fencing skills but primarily for their extraordinarily extravagant clothing. The rich gathering and conspicuous colourful slashes on the thighs originally had a purely practical purpose. They allowed the garment to be less restrictive in battle and permitted the layering of fabrics for better thermal comfort. Battle scars and tears on the fabric soon became a fashion statement, through which the mercenaries displayed their contempt for death and their rebellion against the strict sumptuary laws of the time.
These trousers are very comfortable to wear and easy to put on. The waist features a fly that fastens with period-style buttons. For a perfect fit, the waist circumference can be adjusted using a sturdy drawstring threaded through a tunnel hem. The lower part of the legs, from the knees down, is tailored to be narrow and features practical lacing on the sides. This ensures the fabric adapts perfectly to thy calf and does not pinch, even when wearing historical high boots over the trousers.

The waist circumference should be measured at the level where thou wilt wear the waistband of the trousers, which is usually 2 to 5 cm (0.8 to 2 inches) below the navel. The length of the trousers is measured on the side and represents the distance between the top edge of the waistband and the bottom hem of the legs.

Care Of Cotton Trousers And Safety Instructions
To ensure these trousers serve thee well for a long time and retain their rich colours, we recommend washing them in a washing machine on a gentle cycle at a maximum temperature of 40 °C (104 °F). Do not bleach or dry clean the fabric. After washing, let the trousers air dry; avoid using a tumble dryer, as it could shrink the cotton fibres. Ironing is possible on a medium heat setting suitable for cotton. Please exercise increased caution when moving near an open flame, such as a campfire, as cotton is a natural and highly flammable material.

Please note that other garments and accessories shown in the photographs, such as boots or shirts, are not included in the delivery. For the perfect historical look of a sixteenth-century mercenary, we recommend complementing the trousers with high leather boots without heels, a linen Renaissance shirt with puffed sleeves, and a feathered beret. For combat scenarios, we recommend arming thyself with a replica of a two-handed sword, a halberd, or the typical short Katzbalger sword, which the Landsknechts traditionally wore slung very low at the waist.
