Renaissance Landsknecht Mercenary Costume With Hat
The Extravagant Fashion Of Elite Warriors
The historical model for this unmissable garment dates back to the 16th century, the stormy period of the European Renaissance. Landsknechts were elite, superbly trained, and highly feared mercenaries operating mainly within the Holy Roman Empire. Their complete independence and contempt for death were symbolised by their extravagant fashion, dominated by the so-called puff-and-slash style. This costume reflects the trends of the time with absolute fidelity. The vest, which is practically fastened with buttons, is decorated with authentic slashes on the chest. The wide, puffy sleeves end in firm cuffs. The noble appearance is completed by a separate light collar, and of course, the hat richly decorated with ostrich feathers must not be missing. The lower part of the outfit consists of trousers with striking coloured striping.
This Landsknecht costume can be custom-made in other colours according to these fabric swatches. Please note the desired colour(s) in the comments field of your order. Always state (1) the swatch number, (2) the colour letter, and (3) the colour name. If you choose a fabric with a different composition, the price may change. We will consult any potential price change with you before processing the order.
The costume is available in standard sizes according to this size chart. We can also make it exactly to measure at no extra charge. In that case, please fill in this measurement chart after completing your order.

Care For Historical Garments And Safety
To ensure this magnificent cotton fustian costume lasts as long as possible in perfect condition, please follow these cleaning and maintenance instructions. We recommend washing the garment by hand or in a washing machine on a gentle cycle at a maximum temperature of 30 °C (86 °F). It is absolutely crucial to remove the ostrich feathers before cleaning the hat, as they must not come into contact with water! Do not dry the costume in a tumble dryer; let it air dry naturally hanging on a coat hanger. We recommend ironing from the reverse side on a medium heat setting.
Recommended Equipment For Mercenaries
For the perfect portrayal of a 16th-century Landsknecht, we highly recommend complementing this suit with the typical short sword called a Katzbalger and a halberd or pike. Do not forget a high-quality, wide leather belt and the characteristic Renaissance footwear known as cow-mouth shoes (Kuhmaulschuhe). Please note that neither shoes nor weapons are included in this delivery.
